Where does WoodDrop's wood come from?
WoodDrop sources from vetted Cape Town suppliers who in turn source from sustainable or responsibly managed origins. Blue Gum and Black Wattle come from Western Cape plantations — both are fast-growing species that are commercially farmed for timber and energy. Rooikrans is sourced from invasive clearing on the Cape Peninsula, where it competes with indigenous fynbos. Kameeldoring and Mopane are sourced from Namibia, Botswana, and Zimbabwe, where they are harvested under formal permits. Vine wood comes seasonally from Western Cape wine estates.
Every wood type in the catalogue is moisture-tested before it is listed. Wood that does not meet the stated moisture range is not listed — regardless of price or availability.
Is WoodDrop a supplier or a marketplace?
WoodDrop is a marketplace — but one that sells as the principal. When you place an order on WoodDrop, your contract is with WoodDrop, not with the individual supplier. WoodDrop is responsible to you under the Consumer Protection Act for the quality and delivery of your order. The supplier carries out the delivery on WoodDrop's behalf and is accountable to WoodDrop under a separate supplier agreement.
This structure matters because it means you have a single, accountable point of contact for any problem — WoodDrop — rather than having to chase an anonymous third-party supplier.
